ÖLKATASTROPHE IN RUSSLAND
Unzählige Kilometer von Pipelines durchziehen die Republik Komi im Norden Russlands. Viele sind aufgrund des hohen Alters oder durch die stark schwankenden klimatischen Bedingungen marode. Russlands Flüsse transportieren jährlich ca. 500.000 Tonnen Rohöl in den Arktischen Ozean.Die Ölproduktion hat enorme Auswirkungen auf die Natur der Region und ihre Einwohner. Ölseen werden – wenn überhaupt entdeckt – oft nur mit Sand bedeckt.
Countless kilometers of pipelines are crossing the Komi Republic in Northern Russia, many of them destroyed by age and climatic conditions. The Russian rivers flush around 500.000 tons of oil to the Arctic ocean every year. The oil industry has tremendous impacts on the region’s nature and inhabitants. Oil spills, if ever detected, are superficially covered with sand.
